Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of your teeth to cover chips and stains and close small gaps. Most cases take two or three visits, and you get the full cost in writing before any work begins.

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They cover stains, chips, small gaps and worn edges, resist new stains, and usually last 10 to 15 years with good care. At Metropolitan Smile Design in Tamarac most veneer cases are finished in two or three visits.

Veneers are made from dental ceramic that mimics the translucency and texture of natural enamel, which is why a well-made veneer is hard to tell apart from a real tooth.
Bonding is shaped by hand in one visit. Veneers are made in a dental lab to exact measurements, which gives them their strength and stain resistance. A veneer covers the front of the tooth, where a crown covers all of it, so more of your natural tooth stays in place.
Veneers may suit you if you have
If you grind your teeth, have gum disease or need a cavity filled, we treat that first. A healthy foundation is what makes cosmetic work last.
We talk about what bothers you, examine your teeth and gums, take photos and go over cost and payment.
We plan shade, length, shape and how much the veneers show when you smile. Many patients preview the result first.
A thin layer of enamel comes off the front of the teeth so the veneers sit flush. We keep it as conservative as the case allows.
A dental lab makes your veneers from porcelain. You wear temporaries in the meantime.
We check fit, shade and bite, bond each veneer and polish the edges. You leave with the finished result.
Veneers aren't the only way to change how your teeth look. Here's how they compare.
Lab-made shells that fix color, shape, size and small alignment issues at once, and resist coffee, tea and wine stains.
Tooth-colored resin shaped by hand in a single appointment. It costs less, but stains and chips more easily than porcelain.
If the shape of your teeth is fine and only the color bothers you, whitening may be all you need.
About whiteningVeneer pricing depends on how many teeth you are treating and the condition they are in, so an exact number takes an exam. You get the full cost in writing before any work begins, with no surprises at the front desk.
Most dental insurance treats veneers as cosmetic and doesn't cover them. If part of your case is restorative, for example a cracked tooth that needs a crown, that portion may be covered, and we verify your benefits for free before you commit.
Two quotes can differ because of what goes into them: the porcelain and the lab that makes it, how many teeth you treat, and any work needed first, such as decay, gum disease or a bite problem. We put the price in writing after the consultation, before any work begins.
Brush and floss as usual. Porcelain resists stains, but the gums and natural teeth around it still need daily cleaning.
Don't bite nails, pens or ice, and don't use your teeth as tools. If you grind at night, wear a night guard.
Regular cleanings and checkups keep the edges sealed and the gums healthy, which is what lets veneers reach 10 to 15 years.
No. A small amount of enamel is reshaped so the veneer fits properly, and that part is permanent, but the tooth underneath stays healthy and functional when the work is done well and maintained.
Usually 10 to 15 years, sometimes longer. What shortens their life is grinding, using your teeth as tools and skipping cleanings.
Only if they are designed that way. The too-white, too-square look comes from ignoring the patient's face. We shade and shape veneers to match your features and the rest of your teeth.
Porcelain does not respond to whitening. That is why we whiten your natural teeth first if you want a brighter shade, then match the veneers to it.
Preparation is done under local anesthetic and most patients describe it as easy. Some mild sensitivity for a few days afterward is normal.
It depends on how many teeth show when you smile and what you want to change. Some patients treat two front teeth, others several across the smile. We plan the number with you at the consultation.
It depends on the goal. Whitening suits healthy teeth that are only discolored. A crown covers a badly damaged or root-canaled tooth completely. Veneers sit in between: they resurface the front of relatively healthy teeth when you want to change their color and shape at the same time.
